The three most ever heard things in Thailand

  • Boom Boom
  • Ping Pong
  • Tuk Tuk

Mumbai International AirportNovember 13, 2014 – The journey starts from Dadar as I head toward Mumbai International Airport to have a legendary trip to Bangkok and Pattaya with my cousin Monty Pinty who was going to reach the airport from Andheri. The cab took more than 45 at Mahim itself and I thought to myself I am definitely going to Miss this flight. Also I would have later been killed by Monty as his passport and tickets were with me; so if I miss the flight -> he misses the flight as well!

Fortunately I reached on time and we had plenty of time at the airport.

1st -> Got our boarding passes and checked in the luggage which we did not want to carry with ourselves inside the plane.

2nd -> Got past the security check.

3rd -> Passport Control Verification: Done

We were traveling by Thai airways which are one of the best airways in the world (if you love Asian women that is).

Air hostess: 4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

Food: 3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)

In-flight songs, movies and games database to entertain yourself: 4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5) (I mostly listened to Taylor swift songs :p and saw the Adam Sandler movie Blended on the return flight)

On the flight we were given a small form to fill out which we later had to submit to the passport control area after landing.

We landed and straight away went to the Passport Control Section as we had already gotten our visas for Thailand in Mumbai through CKGS. More about that later.

Everything went fine and we were out in 30 minutes. From the airport we took a bus to Pattaya which cost us about 136 Baht. The lady in the bus explained to us where we should get down (the nearest stop to our hotel Citin Loft). In the bus a girl came to us asking us if we would like to fill out a questionnaire and I said yes. It was basically a form which asked you about your interest in properties in Pattaya. After filling the form I entered my mobile number in the phone number section and the girl asked me if I had a local number to which I replied “no”. She then gave me a free Sim card with minimum talk time and 3G. We reached our bus stop.

We took a cab and reached our hotel CitinLoft Pattaya (3 star)

How would I rate it?

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

Due to business hours and my bad writing abilities I am going to finish this article quick now, lol.

Later in the day we roamed Pattaya, Pattaya beach.

Pattaya Beach

For 850 Baht per person we visited:

  • The Wax Museum
  • The Horror Show
  • Ripley’s Believe It Or Not

Rating for the Package: 4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

We had heard a lot about the walking street so we then went to the walking street which was nearby; honestly we were not too impressed. An hour later we realized why we were not too impressed. We had reached there early; it was 21:00 hours and the day was just beginning for the people at walking street.

Things to do while at walking street:

  • Listen to live Music by Thai bands 4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)
  • Hukka & Drinks 3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)
  • Watch Kick Boxing 3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)
  • Play Pool (which I do not know how to) 3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5). But Monty played with his new ladyboy friend; Played POOL!
  • Russian Cabaret 4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)
  • The girl standing OUTSIDE the Russian cabaret 5 out of 5 stars (5 / 5)
  • The girls INSIDE the Russian cabaret (let’s just leave that for now :p)
  • Other night clubs 4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

The next day we went to Koh Larn Island. Things to do over there:

  1. Chill.
  2. Make a mistake of not taking a bike on rent.
  3. Getting Lost.
  4. Missing the last boat back to Pattaya (18:30 hrs.)
  5. Drive/Sail a ship back to Pattaya like a boss.

Lost in koh larn   Captain of the ship

On the ship we met a guy who had also missed the last ferry back to Pattaya. He was an Aeronautical Engineers from Iran who shared some of his experiences (mostly sex) while he was in Pattaya, Thailand. We reached Pattaya and were thankful to the lady who helped us get to Pattaya for 150 Baht per person compared to 4500 Baht that the speed boat people wanted to get us back to Pattaya from Koh Larn.

The next morning we had our breakfast at the hotel before we had to pack our bags and go to Bangkok. Interesting thing we noticed at the breakfast table. On the table behind us were a foreigner and a Thai girl. On the inside were one Asian guy and one Thai girl. On the entrance was one Indian guy and few Thai girls. And then there were “we” on our table – Two bad tasting cups of tea, some bread jam and just two guys. Well, it was what it was; we are not Charlie Harper and we do not PAY for sex.

Next, we took a cab which took us to a bus stop from where we could go to Bangkok. We paid about 149 Baht for the bus to go to Bangkok. As Bangkok approached the whole scenario of the trip changes. Pattaya is like 1 big resort where everyone is just chilling and Bangkok had the whole city like commercial business center like feeling to it.

We got down at the bus stop and asked a cab driver to take us to our destination at Sukhumvit Soi 2. We were told 600 and we moved ahead and asked another taxi driver who told us 400 Baht. We said 300 and he said “get in”.

We reached our Hotel: Aspen Suites (4 star)

Selfie time

The BTS train system was very convenient for us for visiting nearby places like Siam, national stadium, Phloen Chit, Sala Daeng etc. to go to shopping malls, night markets, temple etc.  4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

We had to do shopping while in Bangkok so we asked our driver to take us to a particular place called Indra market. He told us that he knows a better place than Indra square for shopping and it was on the way so we checked out that place. The wallets and watches at this place looked as good as original (they were fake though). Then we went to Indra Market to do shopping before we went back to India.

Some of the things you can get over there at great prices:

  • Football jerseys (OG/Semi OG)
  • Watches
  • Wallets
  • Bags
  • Belts
  • Handbags
  • Electronic items
  • T-shirts

Overall rating for Indra Market: 4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

As promised to earlier, I am going to point you out in the right direction if you are looking to travel from India to Thailand. You have an option of getting Visa on Arrival but it is better if you get it in India.

Cost of Visa on Arrival: 1000 Baht or 2000 INR

Cost of Visa (Including fees) if you go through CKGS: 2400 INR

We were told that you should be carrying X amount of money when traveling to Thailand but we were asked no such questions at the Immigration. The only documents we showed while getting the Visa is:

  • Bank statement showing adequate funds OR Credit card statement showing credit limit
  • Proof of stay
  • Return Flight ticket

We got the Visa in 48 hours time in Mumbai.

Until the next blog post, stay cool, stay awesome!

PS: In white top, the amazing miss Kate from Thailand (mean on so many levels though):
