A Few days back I was asked by my aunt (who is an expert in Homeopathy) as to how an article should be written for the internet. The answer is simple – “Write BIG”.

The art of writing for the web is not actually a difficuly art and can be mastered by anyone. Even by a person having average English writing skills. Search Engines love content and content can be created only by filling up your pages with unique text. While writing for the Web make sure you write in detail. Make sure you are not a miser when it comes to writing words. For Example if you want to write “Please read my Article” write something like “Below is my article on XYZ please go ahead and read it for your pleasure.” In this manner you have created more content in text format that is loved by the major search engines like Google, Yahoo and Msn.

GENERATE CONTENT
The point here is to expand each and every word and each and every statement in your article to the max(same stands true for the web). Article writer’s have mastered this art and are writing daily using this technique to their benefit. It’s like reading a book and writing it in your own words. You have understood the topic and are just converting those thoughts into Black and White(colour, if you are using some color for the font :)
).

FORMAT
Make sure your article is properly formatted because not everyone will have the same text viewer as yours. Make proper wordwrap and try and check your article in different text viewers like notepad and textpad.

CHECK
Before you submit your article to article sites or publish your Ezine, make sure you check for your spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. Have a proper flow in your article. Have paragraphs, bullets where needed so that the page does not look conjusted.

LANGUAGE
Always write your article in English because it is a Universal language and it will be understood by everyone. The language should be simple and the words used should be easy to understand and not higher vocabulary words that can only be understood with the help of a dictionary.

YOUR PROFILE
You should always use the resource box to your benefit. Make sure you have a unique resource box for every article. In this way you will have fresh profile content with every fresh article.

Reliance internet connection

Funny – reliance internet connectioni

1. They will keep transferring your line from one dept to another dept and you will have to explain your same problem you have had for 6 months to every person your line has been transferred to. Chances are that each and every employee of reliance must have heard my problem by now.

2. Some one liners :
-> Transferring your line to r-connect dept.
-> Transferring your line to customer service.
-> Transferring your line to technical dept.
-> Are you getting all signals ?
-> How can i solve your problem until you tell me everything. (I must have called them about 150 times and written 20 times).
-> Sorry but are systems are being upgraded.(This seems like some company on the move. Do they upgrade their system everyday ?)
-> Your problem will get solved by (add 2 days to whichever date you have called)
-> Technical dept will get back to you. (I think they will callme any moment now and ask me to check my internet settings).

Reliance internet connection

I have been using the reliance internet connection and i can say there has never been any such internet connection internet service provider as bad as Reliance.

It disconnects atleast 20 times a day.

Problems with reliance internet connection:
1. Gets disconnected between downloads. so if you are downloading 10 mb file and it gets disconected at 6 mb then you have to redownload the whole file again and here you will be charged for 16 mb and not 10 mb. I wonder if this is intentional.

2. Disconect between chats. It is so annoying for a client or friend or co-worker if you just logoff in between chats. Sorry but thats not a logoff. Because of a pathetic connection some people get loggedoff automatically. Thanks to reliance connection.

3. Waste of time this reliance internet connection is. There are times when you are submitting a form and you get disconnected then. Here you have to reconnect then go back, fill the form again and then submit. There are times when you have to fill the same form more than twice.

4. After it automatically disconects you , you still have to click on disconect button. Then you have to wait for few minutes so that the connect button appears so that you can click on it to reconnect. If you end the application and restart it to connect , it wont happen. You will then have to restart your computer.

Worst

1. In the begining I was told that there were problems with my laptop and was forwarded to third party hardware company who asked me to pay 750 to solve the problem. I did not go for it. Turned out that the problem was NOT in my laptop.

2. Earlier it was like everytime you call them up they will tell you your problem will get solved in a day or 2. Once when i called at abt 11.55 pm i was told your problem will get solved by 12.00 . It’s been 5 months already.

3. They will not provide you with their alternative broadband connection on request even when you have informed them that you are sick of the reliance internet connection.

In short – do NOT go for reliance internet connection.

You loose business and you loose peace of mind. If they were in the U.S, i am sure someone wud have sued.

1.I called up yesterday to change my plan and the lady is telling me i am not even enrolled in the old plan. Then the phone got disconnected and i had to call the support again and another customer support confirms that i am enrolled in the old plan.

So i ask whats the cost of changing the plan and i get the response “Servers are being upgraded so i cannot tell you the price” (I have heard about the server upgradation 50 times i think).

I guess i will just continue checking how bad their entire sevice is before i quit using them.

 

2.Saturday August 5th, 2006 my assistant called reliance up and this is what they said :

1. Problem will get sorted in a little while (Hilarious)
2. They are setting up 2-3 more towers to solve the entire problem.

 

3.Once again on a long Convo and after waiting and being transfered to numerous ppl they told me that they had no problems in the area.

Same old advice that has been given to me throughout the year :

1.check computer
2.check wire
3.check IE
4.which os
5.Spyware , anti virus?
6.do i get signals?
7.and in the end after checking everything is fine :

Pls get the phone checked !

Next day i get a call and representative asks if everything is fine and i say no. Never heard from them after that. Been a week after that but nothing yet.

 

4.15th July again they said it will be solved in 22 hrs.
nothing yet.

I hope they meant 15th july 2006.

 

5.UPDATE:

Last when spoken to them they said the problem is there in that area and will be solved on 30th June 2006 as they are putting up new tower.

It’s 15th July and it’s as bad as ever.

 

6.Ps : i was disconected twice while updating this post.

Javascript popup is actually one of the best method today for web advertising and catching the users attention. We will discuss in this article below the impact of javascript popup on various groups :

1.Advertiser :- The advertiser benefits the most because his message gets through. As simple as that !
The advertiser can create different types of popup windows which will have the advertising message displayed on it. These popups are not only effective with popup blockers but are also effective with general website audience because they’re eye catchy in nature.

2.The Search Engines :- Various search engines like Google, Yahoo and Msn provide their toolbars with popup blocking facility. The conventional popups were very annoying and could hang your browser or operating system for some time. These new Javascript Popups are not actually new windows but an imitation of the old Popup windows in the same browser window itself and can be closed easily on a single click.

4.Developers :- The developers have a new challenge to create new and different types of Javascript and Dhtml Popups. The types of popup Ads that can be created with the use of these Javascripts popups is left to the imagination of a web developer. The developers have created various softwares and scripts to create such type of popups even if the user does not know any programming language or have any knowledge of Javascript coding. Some such softwares that fall under this category to create Javascript popup are :
a) Impact Popup Software.
b) Hoverads Software.
c) Javascript Popup created with Jvw Popup maker.

What is so good about these softwares is that you can create eye catching beautiful popups by just choosing the popup style you want that is available with the software, generating the code and pasting it in your document. The style may vary from conventional popup windows to advanced Javascript popups for optin ads, limited time offer ads or bouncy popup ads to catch the website visitors attention.

How to make money on the internet

Lot of my friends and relatives keep asking me as to how they can make money on the internet.

They get surprised seeing my lifestyle – me not working my ass off on day jobs – they dont hear me cursing my boss – easy going – no 9 to 5 – no overtimes.

I think the night has come where i shall write it out !

There is NO secret goldmine on the internet. You will have to work hard in the beginning and then if you’re smart – you WILL sail smoothly.

1) Do you need lot of money to work on the internet
The answer is a big NO. This was not the case earlier when i started. But now you have everything free. You can start and run a website for less than $10. For my friends in college – Do not worry – you can also start off without a cent.

Website development :
-You get lots of free webpage maker softwares from which you can create websites. One such example is Jvw webpage maker @ http://www.jimmysvalueworld.com/free.html
-Even if you do not have designing skills, you can still go ahead and make a pretty website by using free available templates on the WWW. Yes, if you search you will find more than you can imagine.

Hosting
-If you can not afford or do not want to spend money on hosting then you can opt in for free povides like Google base or blogger.
-With Google’s blogger.com you can create and run a free blog without paying a single dime. Please note that with a blog and google adsense you can make money without paying for domain or hosting or any registration fees. All you need to do is blog on a particular topic on a regular basis.

Softwares
-Pay nothing for these softwares – Mozilla’s firefox is as good as IE, Openoffice as good as MS office and openoffice suite has support for html , xml and drawing.

Ecommerce
-This is the most satisfying of them all. You do not need to pay anyone to start receiving YOUR money. Register your account with sites like Paypal.com , Ikobo.com , Swreg.org and start accepting money online, internationally in the form of e-checks and Credit cards.
-Whats even better is that you can have an online store setup at $0.00 and only a few clicks. This can be achieved with a script like oscommerce. An example for oscommerce site is http://jimmysvalueworld.com/store/

2) But i do not have anything to sell.
Everybody sells and everything sells. If it is there on the internet for sale – IT will sell. You just have to know what to sell, where to sell and whom to sell it.
Just visit Ebay.com/Ebay.in or Amazon.com to see what all sells. Books, cars, pens, mobiles phones, cds, clothes weird stuff, Softwares and Info products. The only advantage of selling information over other things is that you can keep re-selling it. Example you can sell your ebook on ‘how to bake cookies’ 20 times but you cant actually sell your pack of cookies online more than once. You can resell software on any such site or create one info product of yours and sell it online. If you’re a health expert than you can write a short ebook on health and sell it, if you are a cook then you can sell your chocolate recipe or let’s say you’re an amataeur musician then you may compile an ebook on how to play the guitar or how to be a DJ , etc.

3) Any other ways of making money ?.
Yes. Sell your time, knowledge and efforts. There are people who are willing to pay good money to honest and sincere working people. There might arise a question in your head – I am not really an expert at anything, How can I be of any help ?
I’ll give you a hint. Just surf a freelance site for 15 mins and you will know. Some of the projects that i saw include :
1. Logo, Web Page Header, Buttons (Jobtype : Avg image designer).
2. Write Site Descriptions (Jobtype : Writer).
3. Form filler (Jobtype : Data entry).
4. Reasearch project (Jobtype : Web based reasearch).

There is something for everyone. If you cant design webpages or program a software. You can offer to work on data entry projects or reasearch projects(Learning web design with html is not that hard anyways).

4) Can i work as an agent for commission?
Yes you can. Let’s say you run a blog on health then you can sell health based products from your blog for a commission. Here you are termed as an affiliate of the company whose products you are selling. You can find such companies on sites like commissionjunction.com or clickbank.com etc. The companies can pay you anything from 25% to 75% commission per sale made.

5) Something which is more easier than selling stuff?
Well yes – ADVERTISING !
It’s called getting paid for clicks. Let’s say you run a blog and everyone from your friends to relatives, class mates or co workers keeps visiting it. How you can convert this popularity of your blog is by registering yourself with Google adsense(best and most popular in this category). You have to register with google.com/adsense and place a code on the blog which will be provided by them. Thats it !
Whenever someone visits your site and clicks on those ads, you get a commission out of it :)

6) I think i will screw up somewhere. What if i end up doing wrong somewhere.
Welcome to the world wide web. It’s filled with people like you and me who have questions every now and then. When you feel you are in doubt or not sure as to what’s going on , you ask. Asking questions on forums is one of the best and fastest ways to get a quick answer. If you are in field of internet marketing then you go visit an internet marketing forum, If you have doubts on your health related blog then go to a health based message board, If you are running a music site goto a music forum. Chances are that there is an answer to your question already posted on the site which was asked by someone else in the past.

    Airtel cellular – Please do not call us if you’re an existing customer…

    I dont know where to start , why i am writing this post and what i am going to achieve (hope this spelling is right) with this post but let’s just write it.

    Yes, finally i gave up the sucky reliance internet connection as i had started using broadband.

    To use Internet on the move i thought i will go for the airtel card to go along with my Blackberry handset.

    So i buy an Airtel prepaid card. Here is one of their paragraphs from the airtel blackberry webpage :

    “Why BlackBerry?…

    … Because work doesn’t stop when you’re out of the office. Things move quickly in the business arena and if you need to make quick, informed decisions while out of the office, choose BlackBerry.

    The truth is that most of the customer service people at airtel do not know if this combo of a seperate airtel card and a blackberry vodafone will work or not.

    1. I got the whole Mobile office thing of theirs activated but gave it up after 5 days because never did an automated settings sms come thru mobile nor did anyone send a settings’ sms manually(Tried this for the Sony ericsson w550i initially). Maybe they forgot to send the settings manually – (They however did not forget to deduct the daily charge for Mobile office those 5 days).
    GOOD FOR THEM

    2. I tried activating this service again a few days later thinking atleast someone at airtel might be able to help me out with the whole settings things of mobile office – So i activated the mobile office again(This time for Blackberry). After the whole questions and answer session again and the dialing of their numbers, 121 number for customer service etc a funny thing happened.

    They stopped picking up my calls ?!
    (Instead of forwading my calls to customer service the machine told me please send an sms to 121 with your querry and we will get back to you)

    Same thing happened last time around and I never got the reply to that sms.

    I did’nt even call that many times, most of the times the phone got disconected in between because of congestion. I figured there must be something where you can’t call customer service more than x number of times in a day.
    THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

    So i decided I shall call their non toll free number from my business phone so that i can atleast get the settings. For this i went to Google.com and searched for their contact number. After landing on thier contact page i found out that the only number of theirs given on the page is 121. Which means you cannot call them up with your landline or any other number. (They did give their email address on the contact page though).
    HIFIVE.

    3. Now i though i shall just wait till the day gets over so i can call them up. I did and i was told to call up some other number 9892577010

    Please hold the line while i transfer your call – This call maybe recorded for internal training purposes..
    Just after 1 ring the phone gets disconnected and you get an automated sms :
    “KBC 3! Ab aap ja sakte hain sidney hot seat par Shahrukh ke samne…. Your last call cost is x.xx INR…”.
    Total waste of time and money. Machine picks up , machine greets, machine talks, machine gives you option and then machine hangs up.
    LAGE RAHO.

    4. After the same thing happened 5 times i called 121 (It’s past 12.00 am so i guess i can talk to someone now) to know what was going on and i reached gprs products and service info department who told me that they do not know about the blackberry thing so i should call up the technical department. After dialing again , reaching the tech team and waiting for few minutes i was told Sorry sir but this handset is NOT supported for Mobile office.
    UNBELIEVABLE.
    (That feeling a striker gets when he scores a goal and later finds out the offside flag is up.)

    I remember asking the customer service representative twice(twice to clear) if the Mobile office service will work on my Blackberry, and he said YES with full assurance.
    I ASKED TWICE.

    I have no comments or statements or anything about the whole thing. I just HAD to write this post. If Reliance is bad then Airtel is worse.

    Someone gimme an Hutchison Essar number please ??

    The things that make your business

    Long time no see ?!

    Back in school when you were taught about business studies it was so damm easy and clear. It’s all there on paper and this is how it has to be.

    In reality however things are quite not the same.

    What is the single most thing in your business ?

    It is NOT your experience.
    It is NOT your employees.
    It is NOT your office.
    It is NOT your knowledge.
    It is NOT your finance.

    …….

    The single most thing that is most important in your business is YOUR customer.

    I know it.

    You know it.

    WE ALL KNOW IT !

    But yet somehow we always keep forgetting the customer / the client.

    We all take care of our employees.
    We all take care of our offices and we certainly do take care of our finances.

    What about the customer ?
    Anything special for the customer ?
    Any free gifts ?
    Any surprises ?
    That extra help and support ?

    I remember when I used to go to office with my grand father. A big deal was always made by him if i ordered a snack or something for myself. But if a customer arrives he was treated as ‘GOD’. That special treatment , that sweet talk…..

    That were the old days :)

    I wonder if people still do business that way.

    Well, i dont see that happening around me ?! Do you ?

    Let’s get back to the old days. Let’s do something for that old client. Something special.

    Make him feel special. Surprise him (or her).

    Make an effort do give something MORE….

    Dont be selfish for once. Dont think about sales , money, targets, goals, benefits, marketing, selling or SHIT.

    Just do it with your heart and your business has got to prosper.

    How do you define affordable search engine optimization ?

    Search engine optimization that is cheap can certainly not be defined as affordable search engine optimization as such low cost services that are provided are either not 100% effective or do not cover all the aspects of SEO.

    According to me an affordable seo service is one which not only fits your budget but also covers all the aspects of seo that are required to be done on your website to improve its search engine ranking.

    So how do you decide which search engine optimization service is best for you.

    I. Go for a company that has been there for a long time. Go for a company that is reliable. You can do this by checking the Company details :

    a) How long their domain has been registered – The older the better.
    b) Does the company provide email id and telephone numbers – A company that just offers you a contact/feedback form is not good enough. Email can be hidden for spam purposes but some details have to be provided.
    c) Check history – Has the company ever indulged itself into BlackHat Seo – Avoid such companies.

    II. Check to see what all things are covered in your package.

    a) See thoroughly what all is covered in your Seo package. Shortlist sites and do a comparison.
    b) Time period – How much time will it take for the SEO to be done.
    c) Testimonials – It is best to read and check what other people are telling about the Seo company rather than reading the claims and guarantee webpage of the search engine optimization company. Moreover if there is any company that boasts itself by saying they can provide a top ranking then avoid it , no company can guarantee you rankings. Read ‘beware of fake seo’ article here.

    III. Check to see what all areas are covered.

    a) Is it only for Google? – Go for a company that does overall Seo for all search engines.
    b) Make sure the techniques followed are according to Webmaster guidelines provided by major search engines.
    c) Latest trends and areas need to be covered – Example currently the areas are blogging, article writing, social bookmarking etc.

    Search engine optimization basics people need to know about…

    I am doing search engine optimization in India for many years now and and every now and then i just come across a question or a query just makes me yell from within :

    Did you get you SEO basics right ?!?!

    1. Link exchange : Link exchange just does not mean exchanging link.

    Yesterday I got an email from someone asking for doing a link exchange with my website.

    The website of that person was in no way related to my website but still the person sending the email was really enthusiastic and hopeful that the link exchange might do us both good hence we should exchange links.

    I think their seo is being handled by the wrong person.

    My Website content : Search engine optimization training and more

    Their website was related to health and nutrition.

    Lesson : Link exchange to improve search engine rankings should only be done between two sites with similar content.

    Resell rights evaluation

    Resell rights companies previously offered softwares and scripts with MRR right, but since then after the source code blowout on the market, each reseller in the market has jumped into the big fashion from the sale of resell rights products.

    Below are some of the mentioned few things you should consider before opting for a Resell rights packages.

    • Who was the original manufacturer of the package. Are you buying from the creator of the package, or third-party dealer or reseller.
    • How long is the site was in the business of reselling software.
    • Guarantee What is with the purchase. What if the end user faces problem with the product(s).
    • What are the rights that you get when you purchase. You can use a few questions:

    1.You have the right to give the entire software solution free (master resell rights) ? YES OR NO?
    2.Do you have the rights to resell it as part of the bundled pack?
    3.Can it be given as a bonus with some other product of you?
    4.Do you have the rights to offer resell rights (pass on the rights) to the buyer, after you have purchased from the actual seller.
    5.Do you have complete source code, or the re-use of the marked version.
    6.If you bought Source code, then you must know the language in which the solution is composed in : CGI / Php / Vb / VC / Dot Net / Asp

    The hottest products for the resale rights as of today are SEO products, and Internet marketing applications and security products. You can earn a lot of money with resell rights of these programs and scripts, but you have to keep the above points always in the back of the head.
